Democratic processes and values cannot be memorized. Their development requires a mixture of listening, convincing argumentation and a willingness to engage with one another. Increasing interest in social issues requires participation.
At the heart of the book is the “debating club” method, which offers a space for open exchange on problems that concern us all and an opportunity to develop new ideas for civil society. Debating is a profound and important step for individuals, as it strengthens them in developing their own opinions and can thus help them to face the challenges of the present. Debating also offers the opportunity to connect young people - from all over Europe - in dialog.
