Business models as the core of entrepreneurship (2011)

Business models as the core of entrepreneurship (2011)

The design of business models is increasingly becoming a central area of entrepreneurship. In the past, entrepreneurship was often equated with the term “becoming self-employed” and the focus of consideration was placed on choosing the right type of company or suitable financing structure. One reason for the neglect of the business model is the lack of orientation towards the economic-theoretical roots of the term. In this article, we show that, based on the ideas of Schumpeter, Kirzner and Drucker, innovation and its successful implementation in the market are an essential part of the concept of entrepreneurship and that the creation of the “entrepreneurial design” (the innovative business model of a company) is the main task of the entrepreneur.
